The SOC H.264 to MPEG-2 Transcoder System-on-Module (SOM) is built based on the low latency H.264 video decoder IP core and MPEG-2 video encoder IP core. The transcoder provides high speed (low-latency) and high video quality transcoding from H.264 streams of any profile to MPEG-2 streams.
The SOC H.264 to MPEG-2 SOM includes all required hardware components for H.264 to MPEG-2 video/audio transcoding. It is a complete unit that receives H.264 compressed video stream in transport format, and outputs MPEG-2 compressed video stream in transport.
The SOC H.264 to MPEG-2 video/audio Transcoder SOM can interface with an FPGA or a processor for user product integration or can be connected to I/O cards for direct product integration and fabrication.
SOC offers product development boards, allowing users to develop products using the SOC H.264 to MPEG-2 transcoder modules.
Users have the option of using the codec modules or licensing SOC IP cores for production. Customized modules are also available based on user specifications, given a reasonable production volume. SOC also integrates the I/O interfaces such as Ethernet MAC, UDP/IP, and HDMI interfaces into the module to produce complete SOM solutions.

The H.264 to MPEG2 Transcoder Modules can be evaluated on SOC's Evaluation Kits. Evaluation kits include a carrier-board with all the ports and extensions needed for most video-based applications. The module and carrier board firmware are reconfigurable, and we can license board files if needed.
